Seceda in the Dolomites at a glance
The Seceda mountain is a grassy ridge at 2,519 m above Ortisei (St. Ulrich) in Val Gardena, with the jagged Odle peaks behind it. Almost everyone gets up by lift. From Ortisei a gondola runs to Furnes, and a second cable car goes on from Furnes to the top. A chairlift at Fermeda, in the Furnes area, is an extra.
This is an independent guide, not the website of the lift operator. All prices below are adult prices for summer 2026 and were checked on 19 October 2026. Rules and prices can change, so check the operator's site before you travel.

The 30-minute slot system
The ride up from Ortisei is sold online in fixed 30-minute time windows. Your Seceda ticket is only valid in the window you choose. It cannot be refunded or changed. If a window is sold out, you take the next free one. The ticket desk only sells windows that are not yet full.
- Early booking: online tickets bought at least 7 days ahead get a 5% discount.
- Gardena Card: holders must book their slot in advance. The 2026 card was valid from 6 June to 11 October.
- South Tyrol residents: reportedly exempt from the slots.
- Open hours: daily 08:30 to 17:30 until 2 November 2026. We could not verify winter operation or the 2027 summer dates.
In high season, book the slot before you arrive. Whatever the season, the ticket only works in its window.

The €5 turnstile at the viewpoint
The famous photo spot at about 2,500 m, often called Pulpito, is reached over private land. The landowners run an access point there and charge €5 per person, in coins or by card. A turnstile first appeared in summer 2025, was reported removed, and came back in 2026 as a mobile wooden version. A second paying point on the alternative path, cash only and staffed, was reported in summer 2026.
The fee applies only to this viewpoint, not to the mountain or the cable car. The authorities were reviewing the set-up, and the local tourist office in Santa Cristina and the Alpine club CAI South Tyrol criticised it. We could not verify the outcome, so treat €5 as the 2026 price and bring cash as a backup. Reports of exemptions for locals and children are unconfirmed.
Getting to the Seceda cable car in Ortisei
The valley station is in the centre of Ortisei, but parking is limited.
By bus
The operator recommends the bus to the Antoniusplatz stop (Piazza S. Antonio). From there it is a 6-minute walk over the escalator link called La Curta to the valley station. From 5 July 2026 a bus ran every 8 minutes between Selva (Wolkenstein) and Ortisei.
By car
The valley station has an underground garage and an outdoor car park with more than 250 spaces. Parking in town is limited, so the bus is the safer choice.
Alternative
From Santa Cristina the Col Raiser lift reaches the ridge lower down. We could not verify an official 2026 price list for it, so check at the station.
The cable car to Seceda in two stages
The cable car to Seceda has two stages. The Seceda gondola runs from Ortisei to Furnes, and the Furnes to Seceda cable car carries on to the ridge. The two stages together are the Seceda lift most visitors mean. You can buy them as one return ticket (€74) or separately: €33 return for Ortisei to Furnes and €44 return for Furnes to Seceda.
Planning your day on Seceda
Weather in the mountains turns fast, so check the forecast the evening before and take a rain layer, sun protection and sturdy shoes even for the short walk at the top. Remember that your return ride is also tied to the lift's open hours, which end at 17:30. Hiking Seceda from the top station follows marked paths, but we have no verified lengths or times for the Seceda trail, so ask at the station.
Seceda is part of the Puez-Odle area, which belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009. Stay on the marked paths and keep dogs under control. If you want more than the ridge, the valley below has plenty to do: see our guides to Val Gardena and the Val di Funes, where the Odle peaks look different from the other side.
